Dead battery, locked keys or a flat near Sandusky Street in Delaware? Call dispatch for roadside help or a tow any time of day.
Call (740) 812-9489For Ohio Wesleyan towing and roadside help in Delaware, start here. Ohio Wesleyan University's address is 61 South Sandusky Street, and Sandusky Street splits the campus, with academic buildings mostly on the east side and residence halls mostly on the west. The city of Delaware is roughly 27 miles north of downtown Columbus, which puts it in our outer service area. About 1,600 undergraduates attend, and plenty of them keep a car on campus for trips home. When one of those cars won't start, is locked, or needs a mechanic, Roadside Towing & Recovery Inc answers (740) 812-9489 day and night. We have no ties to the university, and we charge from the same published rate card we use across Central Ohio, whether the job is a jump in a lot or a tow back to Columbus.

Ohio Wesleyan sells permits by type: first-year, residential north or south, commuter and employee, each valid in matching zones. Visitor spaces are held for guests on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and off-peak hours, when some permit holders may use other zones, run from 3:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. on weekdays and all weekend. Named lots include the Jay Martin Soccer Complex, Sanborn Hall's west lot, the Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center and Haycock Hall.
Use those names when you call. A car at the soccer complex and a car behind Sanborn Hall are on different sides of campus, and knowing which saves the driver a loop around Sandusky Street.
Because Delaware sits outside the core metro, most calls there are reached in 40 to 60 minutes; that is an estimate and not a promise. Tell dispatch whether you are on campus, on a city street, or out on the road between Columbus and Delaware, and give a mile marker or cross street when you can.
Students driving home for break often break down on the highway rather than on campus. If that happens, pull as far onto the shoulder as you can and call. A highway tow adds the $75 surcharge from our rate card. If police arrive and order the car moved, that tow is dispatched by police, not by you.
Cold snaps are the other busy period in Delaware, when cars parked for a week near residence halls fail to start on the first frosty morning.
On campus, most problems are small ones. We do jump starts with a printed battery report, lockouts and tire changes for a flat $75 plus en-route at $4 per mile from our yard, and we can replace a dead battery on the spot.
When the car needs a shop, light-duty towing is $4 a mile en-route, a $125 hook-up and $7 per loaded mile, plus any surcharge that applies. Some families prefer to bring the car home to Columbus or farther for repairs; long-distance towing uses the same per-mile rate.
Electric cars are always towed with all four wheels off the ground, and a dead EV gets a 12-volt jump so it can enter transport mode first. If the problem is just an empty tank on a city street, fuel delivery costs less than a tow. When you call, describe what the car is doing, such as clicking, slow cranking or a warning light, so the driver brings the right tools.
Ohio Wesleyan's Department of Public Safety, in Welch Hall, handles parking questions and violations and can be reached at 740-368-2222. Check with that office first if your car is not where you left it. Off campus, a private lot's tow-away sign should name the company that moved the car, as Ohio law requires. We cannot release a vehicle from another company's lot; after you get the release, we can haul it to a shop or home. Our towed-car guide covers the Columbus side. Keep the release paperwork with you when the driver arrives.
For a car parked on a Delaware city street, check posted signs nearby before assuming it was stolen; contacting the local police non-emergency line is another good step. Once you know where the car is, call us with the lot address.
Yes. We tow and provide roadside service at Ohio Wesleyan lots and on Delaware streets near campus. Call (740) 812-9489 with the lot name, such as Haycock Hall or the Jay Martin Soccer Complex, plus the vehicle details. A tow costs $4 a mile en-route, a $125 hook-up and $7 per loaded mile, plus any surcharge.
No. We are an independent towing company with no connection to Ohio Wesleyan University or its Department of Public Safety. Parking rules on the OWU campus are the university's to enforce, not ours. Students, families and visitors call us directly and pay our published prices. There is no membership or sign-up required, and the prices you see on our site are the prices you pay. Your first call is simply to our dispatch line.
Delaware is one of our outer communities, where most calls are reached in 40 to 60 minutes. That is an estimate, not a guarantee, and weather or traffic can change it. Wait somewhere safe and keep your phone on so the driver can call when close. Rural stretches outside the city can take longer to find, so a precise address or landmark matters.
Yes. A tow from Delaware to Columbus is priced on the same rate card: $4 a mile en-route, a $125 hook-up and $7 per loaded mile, with a highway surcharge when the route uses the highway. Tell dispatch the destination address so the driver can confirm the mileage before hooking up. Many families use this option at semester's end.
Ohio Wesleyan reserves visitor spaces for guests on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. If your car died in a space that needs a permit, let Public Safety at 740-368-2222 know you are waiting for roadside help. For a dead battery the charge is a flat $75 jump plus en-route at $4 per mile from our yard, with the printed battery test included.
We cannot release cars from other companies' lots or from an impound lot. Start with OWU Public Safety for campus tows, or read the tow-away sign on a private lot to identify the company. Once you have the release in hand, we can tow the car from that lot to a shop or your home.
