Call (740) 812-9489Here is how Capital University towing and roadside help works if your vehicle stalls on or near the Bexley campus. Capital's mailing address is 1 College and Main, and the 53-acre campus is framed by Main Street, College Avenue and Drexel Avenue, with a pedestrian mall where Mound Street once ran between College and Pleasant Ridge avenues. It is the oldest university in Central Ohio and sits in a quiet residential city, which means tight street parking, busy Main Street traffic and older student cars that do not always start. Roadside Towing & Recovery Inc takes calls 24/7 at (740) 812-9489 and serves Bexley and neighboring Whitehall. We have no tie to the university; we just show up with the right equipment and charge what our posted rate card says.

Capital directs visitors to Mound Street Plaza, west of Pleasant Ridge Avenue, and issues visitor permits from the Public Safety office at 661 College Avenue at the corner of Mound. Short 15-minute spaces sit behind Yochum Hall and beside the Campus Center. Students and staff use permit lots elsewhere on campus, and many drivers end up on nearby Bexley side streets.
When you call, say which of these you are in: Mound Street Plaza, a spot near Yochum Hall or the Campus Center, another campus lot, or a Bexley street with its nearest cross street. Street details matter here because blocks near Main Street can be narrow, and we may send a wheel-lift instead of a flatbed so the truck fits. If the car is blocked in by another vehicle, tell us that too.
Capital's own directions point drivers from I-70 to the Bexley/Main Street exit, which feeds onto Alum Creek Drive, then east on Main Street to Pleasant Ridge Avenue. Drivers from I-71 take Broad Street east about two and a half miles to Drexel Avenue. Commuters coming from the airport side follow Stelzer Road, which becomes James Road, down to Main Street.
Those routes are where many of our Bexley calls start: an overheated car on the Main Street ramp, a flat on James Road, or a car that ran out of fuel on Broad. On the highway portion, a highway surcharge applies to tows. If a crash is involved and police order the tow, the officer dispatches it, not you.
Tell dispatch which ramp or block you are on so the truck approaches from the right side.
Most campus calls end without a tow. We perform jump starts with a printed battery test, lockouts and spare-tire changes, each a flat $75 plus en-route at $4 per mile from our yard. If you ran dry on the way to class, fuel delivery is $75 plus en-route at $4 a mile plus the fuel itself.
For a car headed to a mechanic, light-duty towing is $4 a mile en-route, a $125 hook-up and $7 per loaded mile, with after-hours, weekend, highway or large-vehicle surcharges when they apply. All of it is listed on our rate card.
Most metro calls, including Bexley, are reached in 20 to 40 minutes, an estimate that traffic can change.
Missing car? Start with Capital's Public Safety office, which can tell you whether a campus tow happened. If the car was removed from a private lot off campus, the posted tow-away sign should list the company; Ohio law, ORC 4513.601, requires that signage. Our guide on finding a towed car in Columbus walks through the rest. We cannot release vehicles from other lots, but after you have the release we can haul the car to a shop or your home.
If a Columbus police officer ordered the tow, the car likely went to the city impound lot, and our guide explains the documents you will need to bring. Keep in mind that police-ordered tows are dispatched by the police, so you do not get to pick the company in that situation. Once the paperwork is sorted, call us to move the car onward.
Yes. We tow and provide roadside help at Mound Street Plaza, other campus lots and nearby Bexley streets. Call (740) 812-9489, describe the car and where it sits, and dispatch will send the right truck. A tow is $4 a mile en-route, a $125 hook-up and $7 per loaded mile, plus any surcharge that applies.
No. Roadside Towing & Recovery Inc is independent and has no relationship with Capital University or its Public Safety office. We do not enforce parking on campus. Students, staff and visitors call us directly when they need help, and they pay only what our published rate card lists. There are no hidden fees.
Capital says visitor permits come from the Public Safety office at 661 College Avenue, at the corner of College and Mound, and that visitor parking is at Mound Street Plaza. If your car died in a spot that needs a permit, tell Public Safety you are waiting on roadside service. Keep your phone nearby so our driver can reach you.
Usually. Some blocks near campus are tight, so we may send a wheel-lift truck, which needs less room than a flatbed. Electric vehicles are always towed with all four wheels off the ground, using a flatbed or a wheel-lift with dollies. Mention any narrow driveway or tight parking when you call. A clear description saves time.
Yes. Fuel delivery is $75 plus en-route at $4 per mile from our yard, plus the cost of the fuel. Get the car as far out of traffic as you safely can, turn on your hazard lights, and give dispatch the nearest cross street on Main so the driver can find you. Fuel delivery covers gasoline for most cars.
Contact Capital Public Safety first to learn whether a campus tow happened. For private lots, the tow-away sign should name the company that removed the vehicle. We do not release cars from other companies' lots, but once you have the release, we can tow the car from there to a repair shop or your home.
