Who we are
We are a locally owned towing and recovery company. The business is registered with the Ohio Secretary of State as Roadside Towing and Recovery Inc and operates publicly as Columbus Roadside Towing. We hold Public Utilities Commission of Ohio towing certificate 650256 and USDOT number 03560921, and we carry the commercial auto and on-hook coverage a towing carrier is required to; a certificate of insurance is available on request. The owner, Chris Peer, is reachable directly at dispatch@columbusroadsidetowing.com for anything a dispatcher cannot resolve, including billing questions, commercial and fleet accounts, and property-management impound agreements.
Our yard and office are at 1620 Harrisburg Pike, Columbus, OH 43223, just inside I-270 on the southwest side with quick access to I-71 and I-270. That puts Columbus, Grove City, Hilliard, Galloway, Urbancrest and the I-71 corridor toward Lockbourne within a short run, and the outerbelt gets us to the rest of the metro.
What we do
Dispatch runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Call (740) 812-9489 or send a request with your GPS location from the SOS page and a dispatcher confirms your location, your vehicle, and where you want it taken, then sends the nearest available truck.
- Emergency and accident towing on the interstates and surface streets, day or night.
- Flatbed towing for all-wheel-drive, low-clearance, luxury and non-running vehicles; wheel-lift towing with dollies for quick local moves.
- Low-profile parking garage recovery for underground decks and tight multi-level structures.
- Roadside assistance: jump starts, lockouts, flat-tire changes and fuel delivery at flat published rates.
- Impound and private-property towing for property managers, HOAs and businesses, with signage and reporting handled to Ohio Revised Code 4513.601.
- Voluntary repossession, auction and dealer transport, and fleet contract towing for businesses that run vehicles.
- Towing to independent Alpha Automotive partner repair shops, with labor discounts and included tows for CONVINI VIP members.

How we price
We publish our rate card. The online quote builder uses the same numbers our dispatchers use: an en-route fee, a hook-up fee and a per-mile rate for towing (with a surcharge for interstate pickups), and flat prices for jump starts, lockouts, tire changes and fuel delivery. Card payments carry a 3% processing fee, which is shown before you pay. If a job needs special equipment or a second truck, the dispatcher tells you before anyone rolls.
For private-property tows we follow the rate caps set by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. We do not release vehicles from other companies' storage lots; if your car was towed by someone else, our blog explains how to find it and what it should cost to get it back.
What customers are saying
We started asking every retail customer for a Google review in September 2026, after years of motor-club work that never generated any. In its first week the company received 38 five-star Google reviews, more new reviews than any of the other 86 towing companies tracked within 30 miles of Columbus, which ranks it first in the market for review velocity. The legacy operators have thousands of lifetime reviews; ours are new, recent and about the work we do today. Read them on our Google Business Profile.
What we will and will not promise
We give honest arrival estimates based on where the nearest truck actually is. Most calls inside I-270 are reached in 20 to 40 minutes; outer communities such as Delaware, Lancaster, Marysville and Johnstown can take 40 to 60. Weather, traffic and how many calls are ahead of you all change that number, so we tell you what we expect rather than a guarantee we cannot keep.
Our operators secure each vehicle for its drivetrain and ground clearance, which is why the dispatcher asks about all-wheel drive and lowered cars before choosing a truck. If something goes wrong, you deal with a local company at a real address, not a call center.
Where we work
We cover Columbus and 33 surrounding communities across Franklin, Delaware, Fairfield, Licking, Pickaway and Union counties, including every major route through the metro: I-70, I-71, I-270, I-670, US-23, US-33, SR-315 and SR-161. Each community has its own page with local roads, neighborhoods and realistic arrival times.
