Berwick lies on the east side just south of Bexley, framed by East Livingston Avenue on the north, South James Road on the east and I-70 on its southern and western flanks. Houses began going up in 1927 on land Emil Ambos had kept as his "pleasure ground," and from 1932 the Berwick Golf Course stretched from Berwick Avenue down to Scottwood Road with homes along its edges. The result is spacious ranch houses on wide, winding streets. We take driveway jump starts, lockouts, flats and I-70 breakdowns near James Road here. Trucks from our Harrisburg Pike yard reach Berwick in 20–40 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Which way will the tow truck come to reach Berwick?

From Harrisburg Pike the truck runs I-71 north, joins I-70 and heads east past downtown and Driving Park. Exit 105, signed for US-33 and James Road, lands right on Berwick's eastern boundary, and the driver turns in from James Road. For houses closer to the western side, exit 103B at Livingston Avenue and Alum Creek Drive can be quicker. Mention the nearest cross street, such as Scottwood Road or Berwick Avenue, and the driver will take whichever exit saves time.

Berwick's streets curve around the old golf course. Will the driver find my house?

Yes. The winding layout that followed the fairways of the former Berwick Golf Course can confuse a first-time visitor, but our drivers navigate by house number and GPS rather than by guesswork. It still helps to say which long street you branch off, such as Scottwood Road, and to switch on a porch light after dark. Because most homes have their own driveways, a car with a flat or a dead battery can usually be handled right where it sits, often with a jump start that takes only minutes.

My car died in the pickup line at a Berwick school. Can you help there?

We can. Berwick Alternative, the Columbus City Schools K-8 building at 2655 Scottwood Road, and All Saints Academy, a private K-8 school at 2855 East Livingston Avenue, are both inside the neighborhood, and pickup traffic can stack up fast. If your car will not restart in the line, tell dispatch the school name and whether you are in the drop-off lane or a parking space. The driver will aim for a quick jump or a clean tow that keeps other parents moving, and if the lot is full we can meet you once the line clears.

What if I break down on I-70 near the James Road exit?

That interchange handles traffic to and from US-33 as well as James Road, so merges come fast from both sides. Get onto the shoulder or the exit ramp if you can, set the hazards and stay belted in the seat. If the car is stuck in a lane, call 911 before anyone else. Then tell our dispatcher your direction and whether you were before or after the James Road exit, and the driver will come in on the right side of the freeway to load the car.

There's an unfamiliar car parked in front of my Berwick driveway. What are my options?

For a car on the public street, contact the Columbus Division of Police through its non-emergency number; an officer can order a tow, but a private company like ours cannot remove it on a homeowner's say-so. Parking lots are handled another way. The owner of a lot with the warning signs Ohio law requires, such as a church, plaza or apartment complex, may have unauthorized cars removed through our private-property towing, and we document each vehicle before it leaves.

How much is a tow from Berwick, and can it go to a shop in Bexley?

Certainly. Many Berwick drivers use repair shops in neighboring Bexley, and we will deliver there, to a dealership, to one of our partner shops or back to your own driveway. If the shop is closed, the car can be stored at our Harrisburg Pike lot at the daily rate and brought over when they open. The job is priced from our rate card and quoted to you before hookup, and you can pay with a card or with cash.
