Exhaust & Muffler Service in Columbus, OH

Your exhaust does more than keep the car quiet. It routes carbon monoxide away from the cabin, keeps the engine's backpressure where it should be, and — through the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors — decides whether the check-engine light stays off. Ohio road salt is hard on all of it, which is why rusted-through pipes and hangers are one of the most common repairs partner shops see.

Partner shops in the Alpha Automotive network weld and patch where the metal is sound and replace where it is not: mufflers, resonators, pipes and hangers, manifolds and gaskets, oxygen sensors, and catalytic converters using EPA-compliant replacement parts. Each shop quotes before work begins and backs its work under its own warranty terms.

If a pipe drops and starts dragging, or fumes are getting into the cabin, Roadside Towing & Recovery Inc tows you to the partner shop you choose. VIP members use one of their included tows (1–4 per year by tier, up to 5–35 miles) and get 5–10% off labor on Plus, Elite, and Platinum; everyone else pays our standard published tow rate and still gets priority scheduling at the shop.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a catalytic converter replacement cost?

It varies widely by vehicle — converters for some models cost several times what others do — so the shop quotes each job before work begins. VIP savings apply to labor only, at 5–10% depending on tier (Plus, Elite, and Platinum); Essential does not include a repair discount. Parts for exhaust work are billed at the shop's normal price. Elite and Platinum members can also use 4–6 rental days per year at 10% off the daily rate while the car is in the shop.

Can the exhaust be welded instead of replaced?

Often, if the surrounding metal is solid enough to hold a weld. The shop will look at it on the lift and recommend the most cost-effective repair that will actually last.

Is it safe to drive with a loud exhaust?

A loud exhaust usually means a leak, and a leak ahead of the cabin can let carbon monoxide in. If you smell exhaust inside the car, get it looked at right away and keep the windows cracked in the meantime.

How long does a muffler replacement take?

Usually one to two hours if the rest of the system is in good shape. Rusted flanges and hangers can add time; the shop quotes it with the estimate.
