Central Ohio summers are no joke. Between the humidity that settles over the I-270 loop and the stop-and-go traffic on Route 315 during rush hour, your vehicle takes a beating from June through September. A breakdown on a 95-degree afternoon isn't just inconvenient — it can be dangerous. The good news? Most summer roadside emergencies are preventable with a little preparation, and Alpha Automotive at Wayne's Auto Repair Columbus is here to help you get ahead of them.
Here's your summer-ready checklist — and how the team at Alpha Automotive can handle every item on it.
Coolant System Check
Your engine's cooling system works overtime in the summer. Low coolant, a worn hose, or a failing thermostat can leave you steaming on the shoulder of I-71. Alpha Automotive's technicians will inspect your radiator, pressure-test the system, flush old coolant, and replace it with fresh fluid rated for Ohio's temperature swings.
A/C Performance Test
Nothing ruins a summer road trip faster than a dead A/C. If your system is blowing warm or cycling on and off, it may need a refrigerant recharge, a compressor inspection, or a cabin filter swap. Alpha Automotive will diagnose the issue and get you back to ice-cold air before the heat wave hits.
Tire Inspection & Rotation
Hot pavement accelerates tire wear. Under-inflated tires are the number-one cause of blowouts in summer — just ask Tammy Morris, who learned that lesson the hard way on I-71 last fall. Alpha Automotive will check tread depth, adjust pressure to manufacturer specs, rotate your tires, and flag any sidewall damage before it becomes a highway emergency.
Oil Change & Fluid Top-Off
Summer heat thins your engine oil faster than winter cold. If you're overdue for a change, now is the time. The Alpha Automotive team will swap in the right grade for your vehicle, top off brake fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield washer fluid, and check for any leaks underneath.
Belts, Hoses & Battery
Heat is a battery killer. A battery that barely survived winter might not make it through July. Alpha Automotive will load-test your battery, inspect serpentine belts for cracking, and check hoses for soft spots — the small things that cause big breakdowns.
