How long do shocks and struts last?
Commonly 50,000–100,000 miles, but Central Ohio roads shorten that. If the car bounces more than once after a bump, nose-dives under braking, or the tires are cupping, have them inspected.
Do I need an alignment after suspension work?
Yes, for any repair that affects wheel angles — struts, tie rods, control arms, ball joints. The shop includes or quotes the alignment with the estimate; it is not a free add-on.
What causes clunking over bumps?
Usually worn sway-bar links, ball joints, strut mounts, or control-arm bushings. The shop inspects on the lift to pin down which one rather than replacing all of them.
How much does a strut replacement cost?
It depends on the vehicle, whether the shop uses complete assemblies or rebuilds the existing mounts, and whether an alignment is needed, so the shop quotes before work begins.
